I have no doubt as to Hugh Jones's competence, skills and ability as a doctor but it is his charisma and infectious enthusiasm which make him such a very special person. From what I have seen at the Parkside and New Victoria hospitals, everyone, whether patients or staff, feel all the better for being in his presence or, for that matter, for being within a hundred yards of the great man!

Saw Hugh this week for my six monthly check up and went with a list of queries to ask him about. As usual, we had a full discussion and I was given sound advice. He was helpful, informative, caring and I did not feel rushed. During the previous six months I have a query about one of my medications, so I emailed Hugh at the hospital and received a reply the same day. I am so pleased he is my consultant and I was feel better for having seen him.

Dr Jones was the only medical professional at the end of a long line of consultations that said that he could do something about the incredible stiffness in my back and neck, rather than blaming it on old age and suggesting that I just put up with it. He is incredibly positive and has optimised my treatment based on the long term outcomes and regular consultations. On the housekeeping side - I'm rarely kept waiting - and the whole organisation around appointments has improved.

Dr Hugh Jones has been looking after me for many years and in that time he has always shown great care, kindness and good humour. He is always happy and after seeing him I feel so much better as his good nature rubs off on to me. He makes me feel that I 'matter' and am not just another patient. He is the kind of doctor who makes eye contact when he speaks and discusses and addresses problems I may have. He is a great doctor who is obviously extremely knowledgeable in his field of medicine. I have every confidence in him.
